Kelly Clarkson made a name for herself after becoming the first ever winner on American Idol back in 2002, and has since gone to become a massive recording artist

Amid rumours that Clarkson would be returning to the show that made her famous but this time in the role of judge, Extra asked her if she would consider taking a seat alongside Mariah Carey and L.A Reid, however, the star dismissed the calims saying: “I don’t like the judging part of it. That’s what I liked about Duets”

Clarkson was recently a mentor on ABC’s own singing show, Duets.

Speaking about her time on the show, Kelly added: “I got to actually mentor them and it was more fun. I don’t think I’d be honest. I think I’d get home and be like, ‘Did you see that, boy? He was bad!’ I don’t think I’d say that on TV because people would hate me!”

Despite reserves about appearing on the show, Clarkson did approve of Mariah’s singing as a judge, saying: “I’m kind of super-proud that I’m from the show and Mariah Carey’s going to be on it. Just because I’m a huge fan of hers.”

So with Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler out, who will take their spot! Nick Jonas and Pharrell Williams are just a couple of names that’ve been bandied around as possible replacements, but nothing has been set in stone at this stage.
