Clarkson quits Lilith Fair

Kelly Clarkson has quit her spot in the Lilith Fair lineup.

The singer announced on her website that she would leave the tour in order to finish work on her new album.

“With the news of cancelled Lilith dates and my current progress in the studio, we’ve made the decision not to tour this summer,” she wrote.

“I’m going to miss seeing y’all, but I hope that when you hear what we’ve been working on, you’ll be as excited as I am. I’ve been working with some amazing people and am stoked about this next album!”

Ashley Arrison – Background vocals & co-written by Kelly

“Hearts On Parade”, the debut full-length album from Ashley Arrison is due out on iTunes and in stores on July 1st, and in the run up to the release date she’s released the single “Trying To Help You Out” featuring Kelly Clarkson.

“Ready To Go” New Song

A song called “Ready To Go” has leaked. It’s probably for Kelly’s new album.

Kelly Clarkson performs with Daughtry

Kelly Clarkson has joined Daughtry on stage for a duet at the rock band’s recent concert in Nashville.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the ‘My Life Would Suck Without You’ singer performed an acoustic version of Tracy Chapman’s ‘Fast Car’ with Chris Daughtry.

Daughtry later wrote on his Twitter account: “Thanks again for an amazing time last night Nashville. And BIG thanks to @kelly_clarkson and Brad Arnold for coming out!!!”

Clarkson won the first season of the Fox competition while Daughtry finished in fourth place on the fifth season, which saw Taylor Hicks crowned the winner.

Clarkson performed alongside fellow American Idol winners and finalists at the season nine finale last week, which marked the final appearance of Simon Cowell on the judging panel.

Clarkson most successful ‘Idol’ winner

Kelly Clarkson is the most successful winner of American Idol, according to Billboard.

The music publication reports that Clarkson, who won the first series of the show, has so far sold 10.6m albums, 15.9m singles and had 4.2m radio plays.

Country star Carrie Underwood, who won Idol’s fourth season in 2005, is the second most successful contestant.

Despite the ‘All-American Girl’ singer having sold more albums than Clarkson at 11.5m, her singles and radio spins are lower at 13.9m and 2.4m respectively.

Rounding out the top three is Chris Daughtry, whose band Daughtry has sold 5.7m albums. The singer-songwriter finished in fourth place on the programme’s fifth season.

Kelly Clarkson fumes over leaked track

Kelly Clarkson has expressed her anger after one of her demo tracks leaked on to the internet.

The singer, who had recorded a rough demo of a song called ‘Cleopatra’ for another artist, described those responsible for the leak as “sneaky little trolls”.

She posted on her Twitter page: “Cleopatra is NOT a song on my next record! It was written for another artist! I have no idea how it leaked, it’s a rough demo, unfinished!

“I’m so tired of disrespecting, lying, sneaky little trolls that pretend to be human.”

Clarkson recently won a battle preventing a cigarette company sponsoring one of her upcoming concerts in Indonesia.

Kelly Clarkson Joins Jill & Kate

Kelly Clarkson is at it again. This time, she joined her backup singers/ BF4eva Jill and Kate for their latest song on the 17th video. This month’s video is a mashup of Jill and Kate’s song “Illusion of You” with Jann Arden’s “Insensitive.” As always, the girls do their thing so there’s not much for me to hate on vocally, so we’re gonna go shallow on this one and pick on KC’s hair color. I mean really KC, really? Weak-sauce on our part, we know, but really got nothing bad to say about this video – check it out below.

Note to all indie singer-songwriters – buddy up to Kelly Clarkson, she will most definitely put you on… if you’re talented! Jill (with guitar) has a sick voice.

Kelly vs. Adam: The Right and Wrong Way to Be Famous

Reportage of anything Adam Lambert-related is a lot like an episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race: You can actually hear her highness’ voice echoing in your ears, “Start your engines! May the best woman win!” Lambert will do something infuriatingly asinine. Then he’ll wonder why everyone’s so quick to jump down his throat. It’s a study in comparisons of American Idol alumna.

Because for every Lambert, you have someone graceful like Kelly Clarkson–who, despite putting out album after album of solid pop gems–continues to stay humble in the face of the most intrusive media speculation. She shirks garish eyeliner and costumes, letting her music sing for itself.
But unlike her junior Idol peer, Clarkson doesn’t kick and scream whenever the media tries to rake her over coals. She’ll just find a smart way to say, “Oh, that’s nice, but I’ve already sold like 23 million albums worldwide so eff you very much.”
