Kelly Clarkson is the first artist to be confirmed for this year’s Capital Summertime Ball.
The US star will perform at London’s Wembley Stadium on June 9 as part of the annual music event.
Further acts are expected to be announced tomorrow (April 21), with tickets to be released on Monday April 23 from 8am.
Speaking about this year’s show, Capital Breakfast Show presenter Dave Berry said: “As if presenting to a packed Wembley wasn’t enough to get me going, I’ve now heard the genuinely amazing lineup for this year’s show.
“I’ve been sworn to secrecy by Capital, but I’m not sure how long I’ll be able to keep it quiet on air.”
Last year’s show saw performances from Jennifer Lopez, Cee Lo Green, Ne-Yo, The Wanted, Nicole Scherzinger and Enrique Iglesias.
Say bye, bye to Miss Independent! American Idol‘s first-ever winner Kelly Clarkson has revealed she’s dating a wonderful man, who just so happens to be pal Reba McEntire‘s stepson. Oh, and he’s The Voice star Blake Shelton‘s manager!
The singer confirmed the news on Toronto radio station 98.1 CHFI, giggling while announcing, “I have a new boyfriend.”
That boyfriend is Brandon Blackstock, a 35-year-old Nashville-based talent manager, who also happens to be the single dad of two kids from his previous marriage. Aww, he’s a family man!
But that’s not all Kelly loves about him — she appreciates the fact that he knows and understands her career and priorities since he’s in the music business.
“He understands my work and how much I work, and I understand his stuff because he’s in the business. It’s easier,” an obviously happy Kelly explained.
She has been single since 2006, when she ended things with fellow musician Graham Colton. We’re so happy for Kelly and wish her only the best. Hopefully Brandon’s not a “Mr. Know It All.”
ABC is getting into the singing competition series game — with Kelly Clarkson and Lionel Richie.
Entering a field that’s more crowded than ever (and, given all the shows on the air, arguably more popular than ever), ABC is launching Duets.
The show has Clarkson, Jennifer Nettles, Richie, and Robin Thicke traveling across the country looking for undiscovered talent. Each star will choose two singers to be their duet partners. Together, they will take the stage each week and perform in front of a live studio audience. In the end, only one duet will win, with the amateur receiving a recording contract.
Clarkson called the talent show “completely different” than other broadcast singing competitions.
“They don’t audition like a normal process,” she says. “We get to collaborate with the artists that we choose. We get to go find the talent we really believe in.”
Again it’s not HQ, but if you want me to add it to the archive, let me know. She did a fantastic job, I love P!nk and she did the song incredible justice.
Kelly Clarkson spoke with MTV News in Toronto yesterday (Monday) and confirmed that the haunting, mid-tempo ‘Dark Side‘ will be the official 3rd single from her 5th studio album, ‘Stronger‘.
“[Dark Side] is gonna be the next one!” she says, excitedly.
When asked if she had begun work on the video for the single written by Busbee and Alex G. she told MTV News that she’s just sent directors her ideas.
“I just sent some, well, not a full-on treatment, sometimes I like to just come up with the concept of visually what I’d like to see and then just let the directors run with it, they’re so creative and they usually have such great ideas, [I like] when more people are involved and ideas are flowing, but I did come up with a pretty good one.”
So, can she give us a little hint as to what her fans can expect from the clip?
“No!” she says laughing, “I don’t want to give it away!”
“I’m excited, it’s gonna be different than what you probably think! I just sent out the idea I’d like them to run with, asll three [of these vidoes from this album] will be very different!”
Exciting stuff, Kelly! For more from our chat with the superstar, watch the full clip below!
The battle rounds begin on NBC’s hit show ‘The Voice‘ tonight (March 5), and Kelly Clarkson says the group of contestants she mentored is built to win. Both the pop singer and Miranda Lambert took six of Blake Shelton‘s 12 finalists and worked with them for a few days before intersquad head-to-head matchups began.
“My team is so much better. We’re gonna be the two Texans going at it,” Clarkson says with a smile and a laugh in a promotional video from NBC. “I think the other six should watch out.” Fans can expect to see both women helping Shelton’s team on Monday night.
Shelton and Clarkson are longtime friends, and she is a huge fan of ‘The Voice,’ so it made sense to include her as a mentor alongside Lionel Richie and Alanis Morissette, who are helping the other coach’s teams. Clarkson says she wishes she could audition for the show. “I wanna see how many chairs turn around,” she says.
The original ‘American Idol‘ winner has been a longtime friend to country music, having recorded with Jason Aldean and Reba McEntire in recent years. Her friendship with Lambert and Shelton has created a few impromptu performances, but no recordings yet. Clarkson says fans don’t get to see the real Blake Shelton she sees behind the scenes.
“It’s so funny, because if you follow him on Twitter,” she says, “he seems like such an a– [laughs]. But he’s not. I mean he is but in a fun way.” ‘The Voice’ begins on NBC at 8PM ET. Be sure to check back late tonight for an update on Team Blake and the show’s country hopefuls.
