After seven years of undying fandom, I finally got to attend my first Kelly Clarkson concert ever last night, and let me just tell you, the wait was worth it! Not only does she sound amazing live, but homegirl knows how to put on a show. F’reals. And while she didn’t sing the one song everyone in my group had their fingers crossed for (“Sober”), we all still left feeling exhilarated, hoarse and sunshine-tastic.

My favorite moment came during the encore when Kelly strutted out stage and banged out a stellar cover of “Seven Nation Army” by The White Stripes. I don’t know how I missed the fact that she’s made one of my favorite songs part of her repertoire, but thankfully someone uploaded a copy to YouTube. Enjoy…I did!

I added concert pics of October 4th and the day after Kelly was spotted in New York where she was eating a salad. (Check news article about that below).

Kelly Clarkson has frequently insisted she is happy with her curvier figure, insisting she eats what she feels like.

But it appears the prospect of a gruelling, six month long tour has prompted the American singer to follow a new healthy new eating plan.

The 27-year-old singer was spotted picking up a sensible salad at a New York delicatessen yesterday ahead of her concert tonight at the city’s Hammerstein Ballroom.

Wearing an unflattering red, black and white lumberjack shirt, black jeans and Ugg boots, Kelly looked unrecognisable as she dressed down for her food run.

Since leaping to fame in 2002 after winning American Idol, Kelly’s has fluctuated, with her slimmest being in 2006 when she won two Grammy awards.

Two months ago, Kelly’s weight hit the headlines again when she was digitally-slimmed on the cover of Self magazine.

The singer’s enhanced image on the publication was ironic given the content of the accompanying interview.

Kelly told Self: ‘My happy weight changes. Sometimes I eat more; sometimes I play more. I’ll be different sizes all the time.

‘When people talk about my weight, I’m like, “You seem to have a problem with it; I don’t.”

‘I love healthy stuff and junk an equal amount. Whatever I’m craving, I go for it. I’m never trying to lose weight – or gain it. I’m just being.’

Kelly insisted she never diets, but has started working out with the CrossFit training and cardio programme.

She explained: ‘You never work out more than 35 minutes, but it’s so intense. You do things like box jumps, then 50 sit-ups, then 50 squats and then running.

‘It makes me feel like G.I. Jane. It’s very empowering. I feel like I can whup a*s.

‘I do it totally for my psyche. I’m much better when those endorphins are going. It’s a release.’

Despite being happy with her weight, Kelly says she finds the word ‘fat’ offensive.

In an Australian radio interview in June, she said: ‘For seven years it’s been happening. It’s like, “OK cool, the fat jokes.”

‘I love my body. I’m very much OK with it. I don’t think artists are ever the ones who have the problem with their weight, it is other people.’

She also admitted her lovelife had been hampered after untrue internet rumours she was a lesbian.

She said: ‘The rumours are not helping me on the dating front. I prefer the boys.
I’m extremely flattered when I do get hit on by girls, and I do think it’s really hot, but I’m not into it. I like boys.’

The Texan singer has been single since splitting from musician Graham Colton in 2006.

Kelly is currently a few weeks into a North American and European Tour, which features songs from her fourth album All I Ever Wanted.

Kelly Clarkson mashes two cover songs together — Alanis Morissette’s “That I Would Be Good” and Kings of Leon’s “Use Somebody” — while kicking off her “All I Ever Wanted” tour at the Mohegan Sun Arena on Friday (October 2) in Uncasville, Conn.

On Sunday, the 27-year-old American Idol champ will be performing at the Cumberland County Civic Center in Portland, Maine. And then on Tuesday, Kelly will play NYC’s Hammerstein Ballroom. Woot!

FYI: Just last week, KoL’s single “Use Somebody” hit the #1 spot on the Top 40 Radio charts in both airplay and audience. Amazingly, this is happening exactly one year after their album Only By The Night was released.
