Joe Jonas, one third of the teen pop sensation the Jonas Brothers, will be a guest judge during the audition rounds for American Idol’s upcoming ninth season, a source close to the show confirmed to EW.com this evening. The source said news is cloudier concerning published reports that season 1 Idol champ Kelly Clarkson will also join Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson, and Kara DioGuardi at the judges’ table throughout the callback episodes filming in the next few weeks. It was previously announced that Shania Twain, Mary J. Blige, Katy Perry, and former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham have all been tapped to fill the seat once occupied by Paula Abdul, who stepped away from the show earlier this month after a bitter public contract dispute.

Pop Tarts has learned that Season One winner Kelly Clarkson and a Jonas Brother will join forces at next week’s audition series as celeb judges to find the next singing sensation.
The move is quite a surprise on Clarkson’s behalf as she has spent the last several years working hard to separate herself from the reality program. But according to a source close to the Clarkson camp, she’s beyond excited to get back to the show that started it all.

Other celeb superstars joining Simon, Randy and Kara for Season 9 include Shania Twain, Jennifer Lopez, Victoria Beckham and Mary J Blige.

“At this stage it doesn’t look like Paula will be replaced by one person,” an insider told Tarts. “The celebrity judges are working really well for now.”

You might’ve heard the rumors that Kelly Clarkson was vying for a spot on the soundtrack for The Twilight Saga: New Moon.

Thanks to Ace Showbiz, though, those murmurs have since quieted.
According to their article, Clarkson stated:

“I’m a huge fan of the ‘Twilight’ series. How that [rumor came about] was everybody said, ‘You’re a huge fan of the ‘Twilight’ series, have you written any songs?’ And I ended up saying we did happen to, before they were even looking actually.”

That didn’t stop Clarkson from admitting to at least a small crush on Robert Pattinson, though. Said she,
“Yes, he’s an attractive guy,” Kelly told the breakfast show hosts. “But I think girls are more so into that whole Dracula bit. It’s very sexy… I don’t know him. I’ve never really seen him in interviews either… [But] yeah, he’s cute.”

The latest incident, though, seals the deal as far as her interest in Pattinson, Twilight, and, particularly, Edward Cullen.

That’s the real message behind an extraordinary blog entry from Self magazine editor-in-chief Lucy Danziger justifying her decision to reduce American Idol legend Kelly Clarkson’s body by about a half dozen sizes on the mag’s September cover.

For the record, Danziger told ABC News yesterday, “We didn’t make her look thinner. I added a little height because I wanted the impact of that cover.” ‘Course, Kelly would have to be upward of 8 feet tall to look that svelte.

Clarkson is the latest in a long line of celebs cruelly mocked by gossip rags for her weight – celebs who have gone through the indignity of having to apologize for their bodies include Oprah, Kim Kardashian, Kirstie Alley and Jennifer Love Hewitt.

Although she has yet to comment on Danziger’s blog, Clarkson did say in January that she was embarrassed that her record company had similarly retouched her CD cover. (One wonders why she didn’t insist they change it back?)

Danziger seems oblivious to the irony that Clarkson’s faked body appears on the cover of Self’s “Total Body Confidence Issue,” in which Clarkson attacks the image bullies.”When people talk about my weight, I’m like, ‘You seem to have a problem with it; I don’t, I’m fine!’ ” she says.

Titled “Pictures that please us” (apparently Self’s editorial policy), Danziger’s essay on Self.com reads more like a Dadaist manifesto than an editorial defense. It’s filled with all manner of self-contradiction, equivocation, and mystification.

“Of course we do retouching,” Danziger concedes. “We correct color and other aspects of the digital pictures.” She says nothing about correcting a person’s entire body. The altered pic better represents Clarkson’s “strong and confident” spirit – especially when it comes to her body-acceptance, according to the Self editor.

“Kelly says she doesn’t care what people think of her weight,” Danziger says. (Um, so why give her a fake bod?) “So we say: That is the role model for the rest of us.”

Channeling Plato, who believed actual beings were secondhand copies of their idea, Danziger claims that the photographic lie makes Clarkson “look her personal best.” And she claims “this photo is the truest” the mag has published. So, I’m totally justified in thinking that at my personal best, I’m the image of Robert Pattinson? Shame it doesn’t seem so when I look in the mirror.

Kelly Clarkson may have an amazing voice and millions of fans, but there’s one thing she can’t seem to find—the right guy.

The Idol alum talked to Sirius XM’s The Morning Mashup today about the difficulties of meeting a man in her profession. “I’m not dating anyone. I just had this conversation with my girlfriends out on the road, my backup singers. We’re all single, and all the men are married,” says Clarkson.

She continues, “We don’t ever meet anyone ‘cause we’re constantly around married men. And you’re always working. So, I don’t even know how I’m ever going to meet anyone, unless they’re a mic tech, or a guitar tech.”

Even if she did meet a celeb that she was interested in, Clarkson admits that she would be wary about getting involved.

“I don’t know if I could go out with a celebrity. I’d rather have someone that’s, I don’t know, an accountant. I don’t know, a normal job. I love my job, but I like having my separate life. But you can’t help who you fall in love with, so I don’t know who I will end up with.”

Kel was also asked for her opinion on Paula Abdul‘s decision to leave American Idol. Her thoughts? It’s fake.

“Are they trying to do that for drama? I totally think they’re doing that for drama,” Kelly says. “I know those producers—they’re doing that for drama. She’s totally probably going to come back.”
